Mihi Wells
Watersports
Three time International Bodyboard Association's Women's World Tour Amateur Champion Mihi Wells has spent 18 years body boarding. She has held the World Amateur Champion title for the past three years and continues to bodyboard all over the world.

It all started back in 1990 when she moved to Hawaii to study at Brigham Young University. With the famous Pipeline and Waimea surf breaks on her doorstep she couldn't help but be pulled to the water - despite not really knowing what she was doing or having done any real bodyboarding back in New Zealand. After a few lessons from the locals, Mihi soon got the hang of it.

In 1996 she returned to NZ and began competing in the nationals but it took eight years for her to decide to join the amateur tour. In 2004 she started competing on the Women’s World Tour and in only her second year on tour Mihi walked away with the Amateur Championship. Mihi is the only New Zealand woman ever to compete on the IBA tour and has been the New Zealand Women’s Bodyboard Open Champion six times.

Mihi loves all sport including basketball, volleyball, badminton, snowboarding, tennis and touch rugby. In between training and competing she works at the Manukau Institute of Technology School of Sport as a lecturer and academic advisor.
