Welcome aboard!
We'd love your school to join almost 550 other Duffy schools around New Zealand.
Being a Duffy school means more than just handing out books to children. Our schools play an active part in fostering a love of books and reading in their children. Each school appoints a Duffy Coordinator who will drive the programme and coordinate a variety of events throughout the year. These include:
- Distributing and collating book order forms
- Liaising with Duffy Books in Homes to organise Role Model assemblies, Duffy Theatre performances and special awards throughout the year
- Keeping in touch with your school's sponsor
- Organising weekly 'Caught Being Good' awards for students
- Nominating annual 'Caught Being Good' awards for parents and grandparents
- Coordinating the KaH (Kids at Home) programme to enable Duffy kids to give their pre-school siblings books as birthday presents
- Completing an online survey twice a year
- Meeting annually with a Duffy Regional Representative
You can download our Year Planner to see all the events that Duffy schools take part in during the year.

Is my school eligible to join?
There are a few simple criteria to meet to become part of the programme:
- Your school will be rated either decile one, two or three
- The programme is open to students up to and including Year Eight
- Your school will be able to fund half the cost of the books provided to the students - Duffy Books in Homes will find a sponsor for the remaining half (or sponsor your school until a sponsor is found)
- You will have a staff member - it could be a teacher, librarian, administrator, principal or even a dedicated parent - who will have a passion for the programme and will want to become the school's ‘Duffy Coordinator'
- Applications must be received by the last Friday of October to be eligible to join the programme in the following year
