In addition to sponsoring the Duffy Books in Homes office, Mainfreight also sponsors numerous schools around the country. A further initiative is the annual ‘Mainfreight Award for Excellence in Attitude' - many schools use this high quality reference book for the major award at end-of-year prizegiving.

Mainfreight Chairman, Bruce Plested, was the key driver in putting Mainfreight's support behind Duffy Books in Homes. He particularly enjoys the feedback he receives from Duffy Schools.

"Involvement in things that we are sponsoring is everything," he says.

He is also sold on the idea of his team participating whenever possible.

"We try and have our people involved in areas that we are sponsoring so that they feel the passion and the people who work for us go out into the schools and come back feeling so good."

Mainfreight's good work in the education sector was acknowledged ten years ago when Bairds Primary School (a Duffy School of course!) renamed itself Bairds Mainfreight Primary School in recognition not just of Mainfreight's Duffy Books in Homes sponsorship but also its commitment to the future of the school as a whole.
