Kids at Home (KaH) Programme

Kids at Home (KaH) ProgrammeLaunched in July 1999, The Kids at Home (KaH) Programme introduces pre-school siblings of Duffy kids to the world of books and reading at the earliest possible age. KaH is sponsored by the Ministry of Education and private sponsors.

Schools on the Books in Homes Programme keep a register of names and birth-dates of Duffy kids' younger siblings. Duffy Books in Homes supplies schools with a selection of books for Duffy kids to take home to their siblings on each birthday, starting age one. Each birthday package contains a book, a birthday card personalised by the older sibling, a bookmark and a Duffy book label affixed to the inside cover with the younger sibling's name on it. Duffy kids get to enjoy giving and it's the best gift of all - a book!

A great complement to 'KaH' is the 'Duffy Start School Activity Book' and a book bag, designed with advice from new entrant teachers. Each new entrant at a Duffy school receives this activity book to work on at home with their parents. The book is very well received within Duffy schools and in the homes because it introduces these children to the basics of literacy, giving them a familiarity with first alphabet, language and writing skills. These skills stand them in very good stead for their first year at school.

The KaH Programme is a huge hit with schools, families and the community and is a very successful component of the Duffy Books in Homes Programme.
