Book Offer 1 and 3 - Role Model Assemblies
Book Offers are what being a Duffy school is all about! Each and every Duffy kid throughout NZ has a chance to choose two books that they get to take home and cherish – these books belong to them! Three times a year a book catalogue is delivered to each child on the programme. There are approximately 80 titles per book offer and these titles differ from one offer to the next. Duffy Coordinators, principals and children at Book Selection meetings conducted by Duffy Books in Homes choose the titles. All books for Book Offers One, Two and Three are supplied by Scholastic NZ. Each book has a sticky label which has the child’s name, as well as the name of the school and funding partner who gave the book. Each child receives five book offer books a year.
Through out the year, special Role Model assemblies are held at every school. Sportspeople, musicians, artists, writers, radio personalities, television presenters, fashion designers and many other New Zealanders visit Duffy schools, present books and talk to the kids about their achievements and goals. They tell the kids “It’s Cool to Read and Cool to Achieve” and make a connection between success and reading.

Book Offer 2 - Government Book Week
Book Offer Two is held in Term Two and the cost of both books is fully covered by the Government, no cost is incurred by the school or funding partner. Schools Organise a local MP or Mayor to talk to the students about governing and how reading helps them do what they do.
Summer Reading Offer
Each November Duffy kids will get a Summer Reading brochure to bring home. Parents can purchase books from this catalogue for just $5 to keep their child’s love of reading fostered over the summer break! Check out our calendar to make sure you don’t miss the deadlines!
